Our Response to COVID-19
As concern about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) grows across our country and around the world, we want to assure you that Destiny Family Child Care is closely monitoring the situation. We also want to let you know about the steps we are taking—and the steps each of you can take—to help ensure your own safety and well-being, as well as the safety and well-being of those who walk through our doors every day.
Destiny Family Child Care is following all of the recommendations outlined by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) and monitor the Department’s Coronavirus webpage. Though the conversation about Coronavirus seems to be dominating the news cycle, it is important to remember that we are still enduring a very active seasonal flu season. If you haven’t already gotten a flu shot, it’s not too late to do so.
We ask for your help in keeping you, your families and the members of our community healthy. Here are some effective methods to protect everyone from respiratory viruses:
- If you are sick, especially with fever, stay home. If you are not sick, avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. That is about the time it takes to recite the ABC’s or sing “Happy Birthday.” While using hot water is preferred, what is most important is the duration of your hand washing.
- If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow—or, better yet, cough or sneeze into a tissue, then throw the tissue into the trash and wash your hands.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Do not shake hands. Wave, do the elbow-bump, or just say, “Hi!”
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces—this includes smartphones, tablets, computer mice, doorknobs and keyboards. Common household cleansers have proven to be effective in preventing the spread of disease. If you go to a fitness center, wipe off all gym equipment before and after you use it.
- Please use the trash receptacles that are conveniently located throughout our offices.

Until this situation is resolved, we will continue to defer to the NJ Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and other health professionals for guidance on how best to prevent the spread of infectious disease. We also promise to keep you updated and informed as this situation continues to unfold.
Finally, should you have any questions about any of this, we will do our best to answer them as best we can. In the meantime, we urge you to please follow the recommendations of the CDC as outlined above, as they are the ultimate experts when it comes to addressing public health issues.
We will keep you updated, as information is being made available to us.
