Treating the Whole Child

DFCC’s nutrition approach emphasizes the connection between mind and body. We believe that developing good eating habits can be learned and should start early in life. Embarking on this learning adventure early is the first step towards understanding one’s health and nutritional requirements which leads to a healthy lifestyle in adulthood.

We know our parents are busy with life’s day-to-day demands so we created our “An Apple A Day” support program designed for the working mom to inspire quick recipe and planning tips that can help turn dinner-time into family-time.

It is our intention to help our families develop the healthiest solutions possible in any given situation – even when “life” gets in the way.

5 Strategies to Take Back Control

  • 1. Prepare as much of your own food as possible.
  • 2. Purchase minimally processed foods. If it comes in a box, think twice before serving it.
  • 3. Drink plenty of water (half your body weight in ounces).
  • 4. Exercise regularly
  • 5. Allow adequate time for sleep (10-12 hours a night is essential for children).
